PROJECT TLC STUDENT PROFILE SHEET
We have developed the following information to help you better select the students that will benefit the most from Project TLC (Technology Learning Community).
- Project TLC is designed for students with an interest in science, technology, and/or engineering.
- We recommend that students take Algebra II by the time of their high school graduation.
- There is no minimum GPA requirement, but students should show academic promise.
- We are currently recruiting high school seniors who will begin the program in August of 2009.
- This program is ideal for students who have not yet committed to a particular college or believe college is not an option for them. It is an ideal program for first generation college students.
- Students will receive a great deal of one-on-one support in the program. For this reason, students who might not normally excel in a college setting may find the extra support to be a motivating factor in helping them achieve academic success.
- Attending Three Rivers Community College is a great way for students to complete two years of schooling at a very low cost.
- Financial aid is available to students in the form of federal and state grants, and low-interest student loans. More than 90% of recent applicants at Three Rivers were awarded grant money covering tuition and fees.
- TLC students will spend the first semester together to help build community. After the first semester, participants will continue to progress in one of the following engineering technology programs:
- Architectural Design Technology
- Computer Sciences Technology
- Electrical Engineering Technology
- Fire Technology and Administration
- Laser and Fiber Optic Technology
- Mechanical Engineering Technology
